- Little Harbour Estates announces Kelston ‘Sweets’ Connor as new Head Chef

- Joined by executive pastry chef Colin Yearwood

As any Caribbean connoisseur will tell you, the tiny island of Anguilla punches well above its weight when it comes to all things culinary.

Here at Little Harbour Estates, we’re proud of the elevated eating experience that we offer to guests staying at our beautiful villas.

And for the 2023/24 season, there’s even more reason to savour a stay as we welcome back renowned island chef Kelston “Sweets” Connor.

Sweets first joined the Little Harbour team as a young chef, learning his trade and developing his personal style at Le Bleu villa. After stints at some of the island’s finest restaurants and properties including Veya and Ani Villas, we’re delighted to welcome him back to Little Harbour Estates, this time as Head Chef.

His signature dishes often involve deconstructing traditional recipes, to reinvent them in his own imitable style. Channelling elegant simplicity, his menus aim to allow the quality and flavours of star ingredients shine through. Whether you’d prefer to spice it up, or indulge in extraordinary desserts, Sweets and his team will create bespoke menus to suit the personal tastes of every guest.

“I cannot wait to welcome guests staying with Little Harbour Estates this season,” said Chef Sweets. “It’s a kind of homecoming for me, having first worked at Le Bleu at the beginning of my career – and I am really excited to show just how much I’ve learned since then.”

As well as competing internationally as part of Anguilla’s National Culinary Team, Sweets has studied with chefs around the world on a variety of professional placements. In 2019, he spent time at Ormer restaurant in Mayfair, working alongside fellow Anguillian chef Kerth Gumbs, himself a Great British Chef finalist in 2020 and judge on Young Masterchef 2023.

“I love using the finest local ingredients so expect plenty of mahi-mahi, lobster and conch, as well as taking culinary inspiration from around the globe. I’ve been lucky enough to work with, and compete against, incredible chefs all over the world and I’ve taken the best bits of everything I’ve seen to create unique culinary experiences that will last a lifetime.”

Sweets is joined at Little Harbour Estates by sous-chef Colin Yearwood, who has most recently been working in Turks and Caicos. Colin’s 25-year career began on his home island of Trinidad and includes sixteen years on Anguilla, primarily at Cuisinart (now Aurora Anguilla) where he learned, refined and honed his skills as a talented pastry chef.

Together, our expert chef team have developed a tantalising set of new menus, focused on the finest local produce, cooked and presented in innovative ways to tempt the tastebuds of the most discerning guests.

And it’s not just the culinary team that’s new for this season – we are also introducing sushi-making where our guests can join in, tableside hibachi grilling to bring drama to your dining, and multi-course tasting menus. We’ve also invested in new commercial-standard kitchens at all three villas.

Whether you choose to stay at Le Bleu, Indigo or the Beach House, Chef Sweets and his team are sure to create unforgettable culinary experiences that will prove to be the icing on the cake for your paradise holiday in Anguilla.
